The Ride For Life - 2018 World Record Attempt

“Supporting awareness of Organ Donation is our number one objective, and the world record attempt is paying a long distance tribute to those who have donated and those who have received and continue to live life to the full” – Jon Harper, Founder, Yellow Hat Society

Well we have had The Match For Life, in 2017 we will see the first International Match for Life and now we are proud to announce The Ride For Life 24 hour distance world record attempt will take place in June 2018.

Our two founder YellowHatter, Jon Harper and Mark Birchall, once again have teamed up to go for this challenge.  For the very fit, it will be hard; a rigorous training plan is in place because to make the challenge a little harder, a serious amount of body weight needs to be lost by one of the riders!!

Not afraid of these types of challenges, Jon and Mark have a number of long distance cycling events under their belts, but are very realistic that this will be the hardest event they have ever thought about attempting and are under no illusion just how hard it will be.

The event will take place in South Wales and the venue will be announced very soon.

The attempt will be made on a bespoke built recumbent tandem trike, designed especially with the record in mind and to meet the technical specifications for the World Human Powered Vehicle Association

The attempt team is coming together, with fitness coaches, medical experts, nutritionists, time keepers and the venue etc however, as Yellow Hat is a not for profit society, we don’t have any income (All of the Yellow Hatters do events for free, often at their own expense) and we need Sponsors to help with the cost of the specialised trike for the attempt.

We have arranged for a local university to build and have many parts (wheels etc) from a collection of our own bikes, though we need to cover the cost of the lightweight frame and aerodynamic fairing materials

Please contact Jon ( if you can help by sponsoring the cost of the materials.
